Hope you have pulled out your winter woolies because it seems as though Autumn this year will be very short and winter defiantly looks set to be a longer one. While making a transition between the two seasons is an easy one in Brisbane, there are a couple easy tricks you can try to keep your layers lighter but still keep nice and warm. Rochadames Boutique kindly allowed me to pop in and borrow some of their most current stock to show you some examples of this seasons winter trends.
I like using sheer fabrics under heavier ones like this buttery 3/4 length Joveeba leather jacket. This top by Evil twin perfectly matched with either a sheer tight much like the Style stalker ones that Louise wears or perhaps a try wearing a heavier solid matte black pair. Either way, this outfit will look great with a pair of wedges or heels much like the ones Louise wears, just to allow for the extra bit of height which is ideal when wearing a longer length jacket in order not make you appear shorter in height. It's an advantage if your have the longest legs in the world like Miss Louise does.
If you feel like bring it down a level, maybe for a more casual event like a day at uni or lunch with a friend, I recommended investing in a poncho. Not only are poncho's cute and practical, but who doesn't want to feel like Pocahontas on their day off? Most commonly you will find these bad boys channeling the Aztec print which is becoming overly popular and mass produced, while this one is cute, maybe you would prefer something a little classier? So I suggest opting for something in a plain colour like black or grey. Perhaps even accessories with a fur snood? Which are readily available on ASOS.
Can't go wrong with a shearling leather jacket at the moment, they are every where and I think they even might stay around for another season. Possibly not as greater investment as a basic leather jacket (like the Joveeba one) but still at the very least lush, warm and when purchased from a good store or label, very luxe. I am also in love with the style stalker maxi skirt, the jersey fabric is to die for and the fish tale at the back of it is a perfect finishing touch, how ever, if you are paranoid about your hips or tummy, I would recommend a maxi skirt that is a looser fit and drops from waist point.
In my last trend report I discussed the use of sheer maxi skirts and I just wanted to show you one more look you could try. Oversized jumpers layered over the top is a very "grunge" look but if you pair them right, it can look fantastic. Try black on black and experiment with textures, or try a lighter more fun option like this one teaspoon leopard print number. How much do you just love that tassel belt ? A reflection of the western trend we saw with Hermes A/W 2011 collection I believe.
